I'm a couple days late, but with Peter's birthday being the fifth.. stuff got a little hectic around here! Anyways, the 4th of July is one of our families favorite holidays. Fireworks lighting up the sky, bbq's, swimming, warm weather, staying up past bedtime.. what else could kids ask for?! All in all we had a good time and Lennon is already asking "When does the 4th of July come back? I miss it and want to play with sparklers again!" lol
It seems we've had more rain than sunshine in our neck of the woods. Lennon counted down the days until summer break and this weather is everything but "summer."
The clouds are heavy and any chance Mother Nature gets she pours rain off and on throughout the morning/afternoon. Sure, we have sunshine but not enough to our liking.
I made the boys "cinnamon roll waffles" all I did was take store bought cinnamon roll dough and placed it in my waffle maker.. and voila! It was a hit and they ate most of them all up. The rest of the morning they watched reruns of their favorite tv show, helped me clean out the pantry (if you count playing with old cereal boxes as help), and decided to float around in a bubble bath. Fingers crossed.. tomorrow we get some awesome weather!
As the smell of coconutty sunscreen, splashes from the cannon balls into the pool, and laughter filling the air- this is what summer is all about. I can only hope that my boys remember how much joy running through a sprinkler brought them, or how I would giggle and point out their tan lines, especially building half broken sand castles, and helping me pick out every fruit we had to make giant fruit salads! I live for these moments and know they will fly by in the blink of an eye, but as long as I can remind my babies what it is to feel young.. my work here is done.
