Three years ago on July 13, 2012 @ 1:49pm.. Nico William Costello was born.
I remember that day like it was yesterday, I was going into the hospital to be induced and had to be there at 7am. I woke up at around 5:30am and cuddled Lennon for a few minutes and told him how much I loved him and how great of a big brother he was going to be. I slipped out of bed, kissed him on the head and left the house. So many emotions ran through me at once: scared, excited, worried, thankful, sad (would I be strong enough to take care of 2 little boys?), and most of all in love with life.
I got to the delivery and labor and as normal was told to change into the normal hideous gown, and hooked up to all the usual machines, and that's when the waiting of the horrible contractions to start began.
Minutes turned into half hours which turned into hours.. and at exactly 1:49pm, Nico came into the world and right into my arms. A few moments after he took his first breath his HUGE eyes blinked open and straight into mine, it was so comforting almost like he was telling me MOM, YOU GOT THIS! EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OKAY. I felt at peace at knew that this whole taking care of two young boys game.. was going to be an awesome adventure.
It's tradition in our home on birthday's to start off the morning with some sort of sweets! For Lennon's bday this year he had homemade funfetti pancakes, Peter had a pile of rainbow waffles, and Nico was served a mountain of sprinkle doughnuts! No complaints from the birthday baby.
Thank you to everyone that wished our boy a Happy Birthday, he had a blast and we appreciate all the love.
